Back to a Tijuana Flats for some Lightning themed artwork. In this concept I imagined a future world where Lightning was our only source of electrical power and there were those who went out to “harvest” it. These murals were a fun experiment in exploring a theme in the entire Tijuana Flats restaurant.
Sometimes it’s great to just return to the beginning type of artwork that got you excited about chalk. And that’s what this piece was for me. 2D and using colorful pieces of chalk. St Joseph Chalk the Block is such a fun and friendly festival and one where I could visit with in-laws and my own relatives coming to see my work.
I was able to visit a beautiful little sea side city called Den Helder where I spent a week creating this 3D painting of a tightrope stretched over a canal in the Netherlands. Unlike most of my street paintings this one was able to last (since it was painted in latex) for close to a year before being power washed off.
This 3D street painting depicts a boy using a crayon to build bridges between warring characters. I was invited to the World Street Painting Festival in Arnhem, Netherlands along with talented artists from across the world. I was honor to “represent” the United States among these talented artists from around the world.
